How to Read Magazines using Overdrive

We have now moved all our Magazines from RB Digital to Overdrive/Libby. You will now have access to over 3000 magazines and more though Overdrive. We also have magazines through Press Reader

There are 3 main ways to access magazines through Overdrive :

Though the Libby or Overdrive app
Through your Web browser such as Chrome/Firefox/Opera/Safari/Internet Explorer
You can also access audiobooks through your or through your own ereader, or mp3 player.

This guide is for the Libby App . To use the app have your library card an PIN ready. If you have an old or unsupported device, please click here for options.

If you are on an Apple phone or tablet

open the app store on your device. Search for ‘Libby’ and click the ‘Libby’ app
Download and install the app.
When the download is complete, click ‘Open’.

If you are on an Android tablet or phone, then open the Play store on your device.

Search for ‘Libby’ and click the ‘Libby’ app.
Download and install the app.
When the download is complete, click ‘Open’.

When the Libby app opens

select add Library
Lewisham Libraries will come up under London Libraries Consortium
you will now be able to search for magazines

To begin reading books, magazines and comics, you will need to add your library card

select the Libby icon in the top right hand part of the screen
select add a(nother) library card
enter your library card number
enter your PIN. If you dont know what it is, please email us on libraries@lewisham.gov.uk or visit us in branch
If you are transferring your Libby/Overdrive account from one device to another, please use this guide

Once you are set up, with your library and library card find the magazine you would like to read.

if you want to read the current issue , select borrow
to select an earlier edition scroll to the bottom of the record to see the back issues

Accessibility Settings

You can also change the settings to make it more readable.

to access the accessibility settings, touch the centre of the screen.
a menu will appear on the top of the screen
you can select zoom, adjust text size, background, search for keywords, or look at your bookmarks
once you make the changes to the font size and background
Tap the screen again and select " Read Article" to read the article you will see the changes
