How to access Newspapers and Magazines through PressReader.com

There are 2 main ways to access newspapers through PressReader.com

  1. Though the Press Reader App - available for iPhone, Android, WindowsPhone and Blackberry 
  2. Through your Web browser such as Chrome/Firefox/Opera/Safari/Internet Explorer
 
This guide is for the Press Reader App.


Installing the Press Reader on your Device



To use the Press Reader App you will first need to have your library card and PIN handy. Your library card and PIN are your username and password.

  1. If you are on an Android tablet or phone, then open the Playstore on your device. Search for ‘Press Reader’ and click the ‘Press Reader’ app. Download and install the app.
    If you are on an Apple phone or tablet, open the Appstore on your device. Search for ‘Press Reader’ and click the ‘Press Reader’ app. Download and install the app.
    Please note, this app uses a lot of data, so please ensure you are connected to a wifi spot or otherwise have enough data, especially if you plan to use the app regularly.
  2. When you open the App, it will ask you to enter your library card number.
  3. If you are using Library Wifi, it will log you in automatically`




Reading and Downloading from the Press Reader App

  1. You should now be at the Home Feed. To choose a title, tap the "Main Navigation" icon (three black horizontal lines near the top left page corner), then select Publications.
  2. You can browse publications by the following options
    Country
    Categories
    Subjects
    Languages
    Publication Types
  3. Alternately, you can search for a title using the search field in the upper right corner.
  4. Once you've selected an issue of a publication, it will load in "Page View" - the issue appears as it would in print form. Select the article to zoom into the text.
 

Your session will expire after 30 days. After 30 days, you can continue to use PressReader for free by reactivating your account:

Sign out and then back in again with your library card number to reactivate complimentary access for another 30 days.
You may reactivate as many times as you wish.
If you are asked to pay for PressReader, please do not proceed, but go to your account and sign out and then sign back in by selecting your library name and entering your card number.
 


Adjusting Reading Settings

  1. To adjust the size of the text, adjust settings to display as one page or two pages, from here, you can zoom the text.
  2. Some publications also allow you to view a translated version of the text, you may also be able to listen aloud to the text.
