We have special collections of LGBT fiction and non-fiction in Lewisham, Deptford, Downham and Catford libraries and our other libraries have LGBT stock in their general collections.
Lewisham (and now, surrounding!) LGBTQI Book Club meet every month on the last Monday, from 7- 8.30pm on zoom - please email the Lewisham LGBT Forum for the zoom book club link, as it changes every month. We are a different kind of book club, in that we don’t set a text - you can just read (or listen, if you prefer audiobooks) as much of whatever you like (as long as it has a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer link) and then come along and tell us what you’ve thought of it so far.
Recently our members have read Rainbow Milk by Paul Mendez, Believe Me by Eddie Izzard, Major Surgery by Lola Keeley, Forced Out by Kevin Maxwell, David Bowie Made Me Gay by Darryl Bullock, Gideon The Ninth by Tamsyn Muir, Verona Comics by Jennifer Dugan, Black Wave by Michelle Tea, Letters for My Brothers by Megan M Rohrer and loads more, which we list on our Facebook page, if you are looking for reads! We also list what was a library book or available on Libby, so you can read for free if you have a library card. Prior to lockdown we met physically in Lewisham library but now you can join us on zoom from the comforts of home.
