The first segment was entitled Reflections during Covid focused on issues relating to current events( some of which will have a humorous view) which was performed by members of the LMWG. The second segment was the Open Mic which was on more general subjects from the group as well as our local poets speaking on Reflections beyond Covid.
Lewisham Multicultural Writers’ Group have facilitated an Open Mic in conjunctions with the Library at Deptford Lounge for the past 5 years and enjoy providing a platform for Lewisham’s literary talent!
The event started promptly at 14:00 on Zoom with all the participants dialing in from their homes. The hosts were Sophia Harriot from Deptford Library and Gloria from the Lewisham MultiCultural Writers' Group .

The Open Mic is aimed at people of all ages: from teenagers to Retirees. Therefore materials submitted should consider that the audience while being diverse, might include children and senior citizens as well.

- Performers should be in a space that does not have any background noise unless it forms part of the performance .
- Performers should meet up on the day of the performance on Saturday 26 June at 12.30 pm for a technical check before the start of the event
- Performers should be aware of their background and ensure that they are clearly visible on screen.
- Performers should ensure that they can be clearly heard.
The Lewisham Writer’s Group is a multicultural group that writes about a whole range of genres. They started in 2014 in Lewisham Library, moved to Deptford Library, then back to Lewisham Library. They have been meeting using Zoom throughout the pandemic on the 3rd Saturday of every month 2.00-4.00pm.
